Taking a Public Speaking class has been a very interesting experience for me, especially during our group presentations. Each group member had to present a chapter connected to the evolving art of public speaking. Overall, I can honestly say that I enjoyed the presentations. I feel like everyone in this class is here for the same reason to improve our speaking skills and become more confident w so watching my classmates present showed me that we are all learning and that there is always room to grow.

My assigned chapter was Chapter 15, which focused on the principles of “understanding argument”. Working on this presentation helped me understand that public speaking is more than just standing in front of people and talking. There are many parts to it, like being organized, understanding your audience, speaking clearly, and building confidence. I had to really learn the material myself before presenting it, which pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone.

While watching the presentations, I liked seeing the different speaking styles of my classmates. Some people were very confident and spoke naturally, while others were more nervous but still tried their best. This made the experience feel real because many of us share the same fear of speaking in front of others. Instead of focusing on mistakes, I found myself learning from everyone. I learned from what people did well and also from what could be improved.

One thing I really enjoyed was the creativity in some of the presentations. Many groups used PowerPoints, visuals, and bullet points to help explain their topics. When slides were clear and not overcrowded, it made it easier to follow along. Some presenters also gave real-life examples, which helped me understand the material better. This showed me how important it is to keep an audience engaged. A presentation should not just give information — it should hold people’s attention too.

Out of all the chapters, my favorite presentations were persuasive speaking and organizing and outlining your speech. Persuasive speaking stood out to me the most because it is something we use in everyday life. We persuade people when we share opinions, try to win arguments, or support causes we believe in. The group explained how speakers use emotion, facts, and credibility to convince an audience. I found this very interesting because it made me realize how often persuasion is used around us, like in speeches, commercials, and social media.

I also really liked the chapter about organizing and outlining your speech. This presentation felt very helpful and practical. It explained how to structure a speech with a strong introduction, clear body points, and a memorable conclusion. When a speech is organized well, it is much easier for the audience to understand. If it is disorganized, people can get confused or lose interest. This presentation made me reflect on my own speaking and how outlining first can make presenting smoother.

Even though I enjoyed the presentations, I also noticed some areas where there could be improvement including in my own presentation. Some presentations felt a little too long or depended too much on reading directly from the slides. When presenters read word for word, making good eye contact and connection with the audience. It made it harder to stay focused. This reminded me that slides should only support what you are saying, not replace your voice.

Presenting my own chapter gave me a new respect for public speaking. Standing in front of the class and explaining principles while managing my nerves was challenging. I had to think about my tone, pacing, and confidence all at once. Even though I was nervous at first, I felt proud of myself after finishing. It showed me that I am improving little by little each time I speak in front of others.

Another thing I appreciated was the supportive classroom environment. Even when people were nervous, the class stayed respectful and listened. That kind of support makes it easier to present without feeling judged. Public speaking can be scary, but having an understanding audience makes a big difference.

This experience reminded me why taking a Public Speaking class is so important. Communication is a skill we will use for the rest of our lives in school, careers, interviews, and daily conversations. Watching all the chapters come together showed me that public speaking is always changing and improving over time.

Looking back at the presentations, I can say I learned a lot. I learned how to organize speeches better, how persuasion works, and how important speaking principles are. I also learned by observing others seeing what worked well and what could be done differently.

In conclusion, I truly enjoyed the group presentations on the evolving art of public speaking. They helped me understand the material better and also helped me grow as a speaker. My favorite topics persuasive speaking and organizing and outlining speeches gave me skills I know I will use in the future. Even though there is always room for improvement, this experience was helpful, engaging, and motivating. It reminded me that becoming a confident public speaker takes practice, and every presentation helps us ge

t one step closer
